Service Mission to New Orleans

NCSY/JSU Service Mission to New Orleans

Wednesday, November 6th – Sunday, November 10th, 2019

Beginning in 2006, NCSY ran its first Service Mission to New Orleans after the devastating Hurricane Katrina struck the city and volunteers were needed to assist in the recovery. Since then, NCSY has run close to 100 Service Missions, assisting in disaster relief for cities across the U.S., including New Orleans, LA, Houston, TX, Puerto Rico, Charleston, SC, Omaha, NB, Wilmington, NC.

Organizations We Partner Within New Orleans:
Habitat For Humanity – Habitat for Humanity is a global nonprofit housing organization working in local communities across all 50 states in the U.S. and in approximately 70 countries. Habitat’s vision is of a world where everyone has a decent place to live. Habitat works toward our vision by building strength, stability, and self-reliance in partnership with families in need of decent and affordable housing. Habitat homeowners help build their own homes alongside volunteers and pay an affordable mortgage. To learn more about this organization, visit https://www.habitat.org/about

Green Light – Swiss native Andreas Hoffmann founded Green Light New Orleans in 2006 to assist in the sustainable rebuilding of New Orleans and at the same time offset the pollution of his touring band. What began as one man’s “light bulb moment,” Green Light New Orleans now operates one of the largest energy efficiency programs in New Orleans.
